Introducing NEW MuMETAL® Deep Draw Annealed Coil Used In Stamping and Forming of Shielding Cans and Enclosures

MuMETAL® is used primarily in low intensity fields where high attenuation is desired (high initial permeability & high shielding efficiency). Our MuMETAL® Deep Draw Coil is
available for stamping and forming of shielding cans. Typically, atmospherically controlled Perfection Annealing is required after stamping, deep drawing, machining, bending, rolling
or welding to provide maximum shielding performance.

MuMETAL® Deep Draw Coil supply is stocked in gauges from 0.014" to 0.025" thickness [0,36mm to 0,64mm] and 12” wide. Coil can be slit to your tooling width at a minimum width of 1/4" (6,35mm).

NEW MuMETAL® Round Bar in Stock for Machined or Forged Components

Electrical and electronic technical applications requiring precision machined, high permeability soft magnetic alloy, with a low coercive force and low losses, in the range from 0-100 kHz typically specify MuMETAL® Round Bar. Primary use of Round Bar is to produce machined or forged components such as current sensors, high precision current transformer cores, or ground fault circuit breaker (relay parts).

Atmospherically controlled Perfection Annealing is required after machining, forming, forging, or welding to provide maximum shielding performance. Read more about obtaining optimum magnetic properties.

Our MuMETAL® Round Bar is stocked in diameters from 0.250" to 8.17" [6,35mm to 207,5mm]. Custom diameters and lengths are available upon request. Note: Priced per linear Inch. Volume discounts available.

Material Selection
For fabricated shields, we use MuMETAL® Stress Annealed Alloy. MuMETAL® is the most commonly used shielding alloy because of its reputation as a highest permeability shielding alloy available. MuMETAL® is generally available for fabrication and must be annealed after welding, forming or bending. Engineers and Buyers beware: MuMETAL® is a registered brand of Magnetic Shield Corporation. We do not support other companies that sell shielding materials they claim are "mumetal" - it is not a generic name but a registered, proprietary brand that we certify to exacting quality standards and material specifications.

Alloy Finishing
After a full magnetic anneal, MuMETAL® and Co-NETIC® shielding alloys exhibit a clean, bright surface condition. Also, because of its high nickel content, these alloys are corrosion resistant. Consequently, MuMETAL® and Co-NETIC® shielding alloys are usually used as annealed, without further finishing operations. But, there is a variety of finishing operations available to customers requiring additional corrosion resistance or cosmetically pleasing finished parts. Other purposes for finishing include preparing surfaces for paint adhesion and achieving a specific micro-inch (µin) finish.

Deep Drawn MuMETAL® Cans - Now Available In Stock

Magnetic Shield Corporation has expanded our proprietary MuMETAL® Product Catalog with our line of New MuMETAL® Shielding Cans which provide efficient low frequency magnetic field attenuation with low coercive forces. Deep drawn Cans are used in many industries for protecting critical devices from electromagnetic interference, electromagnetic radiation and cross-talk signals. Our cans are easily integrated into circuits so this shielding method may be found in audio, automotive, automation, power supply and power generation sectors. MuMETAL® magnetic shielding cans are typically specified for use in many types of products or components such as high-end audio amplifiers, current transformers, specialty transformers, electrical/electronic & printed circuit board (PCB) components and more.

We offer a wide range of 5-sided magnetic shielding MuMETAL® Cans stamped or formed in either round or rectangular shapes, and deep-drawn up to a 3:1 depth ratio when necessary. Our standard stock range and custom sizes of magnetic Shielding Cans are available in a range of thicknesses and made from various MuMETAL®, Co-NETIC® or NETIC® shielding alloys depending on your exact shielding requirements. For custom cans, we can manufacture pre-production prototypes of a new design. Smaller quantities of Cans, or larger size Cans, or use of thicker material can be fabricated using traditional methods, including Spinning, CNC forming and TIG welding.

Magnetic Shielding Efficiency for Wiring Applications

Increasingly, many magnetic shielding applications today require a flexible, continuously enclosed shielding barrier to avoid pickup of external fields or radiation of interfering, unwanted fields.  One of the key components to a successful solution is choosing the correct shielding alloy.  Co-NETIC® AA has been used in many demanding applications and is one of the most recognized and specified brands of magnetic shielding alloy worldwide.  Co-NETIC® AA alloy is a proprietary material known for high permeability and used for reducing EMI in electrical / electronic wiring applications such as:  power feeds, aerospace, vehicle controls, test and measurement devices, audio-level interconnections, communication equipment, and hand-held devicesCo-NETIC® AA CABLE SHIELD® is specified regularly for these types of applications across a broad range of industries as listed below.


 

AA CABLE SHIELD® - Protective Sleeving

AA CABLE SHIELD® Made of Co-NETIC® AA Alloy - Fully Annealed

 

AA CABLE SHIELD is produced from Co-NETIC® AA high permeability 36AWG Wire and formed into a flexible braided weave sleeving, which is available in tubular continuous lengths.  Our AA CABLE SHIELD® unique design with a continuously enclosed shielding barrier manufactured with proprietary Co-NETIC® AA alloy has distinct advantages over foil wrapping or rigid channeling; and is used to avoid pickup of unwanted external H-fields (D.C. to 100 kHz), or to mitigate radiation from cable and conductors.  Co-NETIC® AA is used primarily in low intensity fields where high attenuation is desired (high initial permeability & high shielding efficiency).  Braid is tightly weaved, so shield coverage is 90% at nominal linear state.  In addition, Co-NETIC® AA wire is corrosion resistant. 

Co-NETIC® AA wire in .005" diameter (36AWG) is widely used in fabrication of magnetic shielding braid to certain customer specifications where our stock Co-NETIC® Braided Sleeving may not be specified.

Specifications:
Co-NETIC® Braided Sleeving complies with A-A-59569 (QQ-B-575).  Co-NETIC® Wire meets military specification MIL-N-14411, Comp 1.

MuMETAL® Zero Gauss Chambers have been used worldwide by many universities, private research companies, national laboratories and companies required to provide evidence of military or consumer regulatory compliance. Our scientifically engineered chambers are preferred because they are fabricated from high permeability (µ) Stress Annealed MuMETAL®, which provides a crucial and consistent extremely low magnetic field test area in the laboratory work space.
