“Wearing” your Laptop Computer
. . . wherever your job takes you.
You may have seen them in use in supermarkets, in police cars or fire trucks, on a utility worker or in the hands of a surveyor. Workers usually “wear” them around the neck on a lanyard; literally like “wearing your laptop”. With the close proximity of electronic components to other components, and to personnel, shielding of magnetic fields is a big consideration.
Considering the degree of mobility of their products, it is easy to see how one of Magnetic Shield’s newest customers developed the name for their company - Walkabout Computers.
You might have seen one of Walkabout Computers’ portable tablets recently featured on a popular crime scene investigation television series, at the series’ request and invitation. The program is known for its authenticity and use of the most up-to-date crime scene apparatus, so when the show’s producers went looking for the newest thing in portable computing, they called Walkabout.
Referred to as Tablet PCs, these portable devices are extremely popular and have been shown to save time and money in a variety of applications. Today’s military employs them extensively - at the infantryman level, actually - to assist in the collection and distribution of “accurate-to-the-moment” intelligence.
We’re proud that a Magnetic Shield Corporation shield was inside the Walkabout Computer recently shown on a network television program.
