New Software System Increases our Efficiency

ERP stands for “Enterprise Resource Planning,” as in ERP Manufacturing Software. Called JobBOSS and created/marketed by Kewill of Minnesota, this highly useable and practical software system manages every step of the manufacturing process, from raw stock to the delivery of finished goods. While a company as established as ours is already had an excellent management system in place, JobBOSS has added a welcome increase to our efficiency with significant benefits in other areas of our operation as well.

There are hundreds of such software planning systems available, so the Magnetic Shield management committee gave careful consideration to the myriad aspects and advantages of JobBOSS before ultimately putting our trust in Kewill. We are happy we did. JobBOSS tracks our entire operation and maintains a data base history of every aspect of every order, which can be routinely and easily called up whenever it is required. This is quite valuable for rapid retrieval of information long after a project is finished. If a drawing or a specification is required on a project that was completed years ago, the correct information can be found and duplicated effortlessly. But even more importantly, the JobBOSS provides instant access to current projects; we can accurately determine the exact stage of any job.

JobBOSS has practically become a member of the Magnetic Shield family, used extensively our staff. For example, when an order is developed, it is logged into JobBOSS by the salesman. The production manager then utilizes the software to schedule the work. Raw material is removed from stock, with a JobBOSS record so that the stock will be replenished. (JobBOSS projects inventory levels to satisfy future needs.) The order flows to the production floor, where it is continually and accurately tracked. Upon completion, the product moves through quality control to packaging and shipping, and is then invoiced to the customer. A tireless worker, JobBOSS never takes time off for holidays or vacations.

Since we acquired JobBOSS, we have taken advantage of several minor updates, and, most recently, a major upgrade to the system. Through these means we are assured that JobBOSS continues to perform for us with the highest possible speed and efficiency.
