Mica's properties expands usage, demand; world's largest Mica mine in South Dakota employs more than 300.

Electronic circuits require means of shielding components from magnetic fields. Television picture tubes (Cathode Ray Tubes - CRTs) need external shields to prevent "jitter".

1954
Perfection Mica changes name, focus to Magnetic Shield Corporation

1955
Magnetic Shield Corporation granted trademark status for NETIC® and CO-NETIC AA® alloys.

1959
CO-NETIC AA magnetic shields protect James Van Allen's experiments on the Explorer IV satellite that discovers the Van Allen Belt.

1966
Glenn Powers passes away. Son James assumes control of Perfection Mica, Magnetic Shield Corporation.

1968
Magnetic Shield breaks ground in Bensenville, IL facility.

1969
Man walks on the moon; accompanied by Magnetic Shield container designed to safely transport moon rock samples.

1973
Watergate Affair ends President Nixon's term; requires protective Magnetic Shield audio tape carrier/storage container.

1993
Gulf War triggers military efforts to "harden" electronics to EMF surges (ebombs). Magnetic Shield supplies Inter-8 shielded cable for Air Force One project.

1999
Work on STREAK camera to capture fusion of Hydrogen to Helium process; requires specialized Magnetic Shields for University of Rochester lab.
