Founded in 1941 as the Perfection Mica Company, the company was focused initially on the mining and processing of Mica in a North Carolina mine, and subsequent ownership of the Buster mine, the largest Mica mine in the world in the 1940s, in the Dakotas.

The company first opened offices in downtown Chicago in the Civic Opera Building, the "architectural masterpiece of the age" at the time.

Magnetic Shield was founded as a division of the Mica-focused enterprise. Shortly after the founding, the magnetic shielding division grew to such a dominant position in our business plan that the company changed its name to Magnetic Shield Corporation. Driving that growth were proprietary methods for creating high permeability alloys as a magnetic shielding that became more important as sensitive electronic applications were developed during WWII.

Used to shield instruments such as airplane radar screens and gauges from outside magnetic interference, NETIC® and CO-NETIC® shielding material from Magnetic Shield Corporation are now used in wide ranging applications tied to the tremendous growth of electronics.

We offer a variety of services as well as products and materials ranging from NETIC® and CO-NETIC® foil and laboratory instruments to ImageGuard CRT shields and entire magnetically shielded rooms. Our engineering staff will work closely with your personnel to design a custom solution to your specific problem. We will then execute that design to produce your shields in a timely fashion, with the quality that has been our hallmark for over 65 years.

As application needs for magnetic shielding continue to grow, we are presented with a stimulating and challenging future. It has been an exciting first 65 years for Magnetic Shield Corporation and as an ISO 9001:2008 Certified company, we look forward to maintaining our "Preferred Source" leadership role in the years to come.
